Finding the right people is one of the most important parts of building a successful faction. United Factions now gives every verified faction owner a recruitment profile, a private application inbox and simple in-game controls. This guide explains the complete process for faction owners and players looking for a team.

Quick start for faction owners

1. Make sure your United Factions website account is linked to the Minecraft account that owns the faction in Lands.
2. Open your faction page through Factions and choose Manage faction profile.
3. Add a clear introduction, your faction story, languages, play styles, requirements, a public contact link and an optional square logo or flag.
4. Set recruitment to Recruiting or Invite only, then save the profile.
5. Share the faction profile instead of asking players to send applications in public chat.
6. Review private applications on your faction page. If you accept somebody, invite them in-game when you are ready.

The three recruitment settings

• Recruiting: your faction is actively looking for new members. Linked players can send a private application from your faction profile.
• Invite only: you are selective, but players may still request an invite. This is useful for established factions that want to talk to candidates before accepting them.
• Closed: no new applications can be sent. Your public faction profile stays visible, so players can still learn who you are and check again later.

New and existing factions start safely on Closed. Nothing is advertised until the verified faction owner chooses to open recruitment.

Open or close recruitment from Minecraft

The faction owner can change the recruitment state without leaving the game:

/ufa recruiting open
/ufa recruiting invite
/ufa recruiting closed

You can also switch private in-game recruitment notices on or off:

/ufa notifications on
/ufa notifications off

When notices are enabled, the owner can receive a private Minecraft notification when a linked player applies or when somebody replies to the faction’s recruitment topic. Application messages themselves remain private and are not copied into game chat.

These commands work only for the verified, linked Minecraft account that currently owns the faction. If the website account is not linked, ownership has changed or the faction data is not current, the setting will not be changed.

Manage recruitment from the website

Log in to United Factions, open your public faction page and use Manage faction profile. A good profile should answer the questions a potential member will have before applying:

• Short introduction: explain in one or two sentences what makes your faction worth joining.
• Faction story: describe your goals, culture, history and the kind of community you want to build.
• Languages: list the languages your members normally use, for example EN, NL or DE.
• Play styles: choose the activities that actually fit your faction: PvP and raiding, building, economy and trade, diplomacy or exploration.
• Recruitment requirements: be honest about age expectations, activity, time zone, voice chat, experience or any trial period.
• Public contact link: add a safe place where candidates can talk to you, such as your faction’s Discord channel.
• Logo or flag: upload a square PNG or WebP if you want your faction to be easier to recognise.

Saving a Recruiting or Invite only profile also creates or updates one public recruitment topic for the faction. The topic is kept in sync with the verified owner profile. Players can ask public questions there, while actual applications stay private. Closing recruitment also closes the synchronized topic until recruitment is opened again.

How a player applies

1. Visit unitedfactions.net/factions.
2. Use the recruitment, language and play-style filters to find a suitable faction.
3. Open the faction profile and read its story, requirements and current roster.
4. Log in with Discord and link your Minecraft account if you have not done so already.
5. Choose your main play style, tell the owner when you are usually online and write why you want to join.
6. Send the application. It is visible only to the faction owner, not to the public forum.

You can have one active application for the same faction at a time. Put some effort into it: tell the owner what you enjoy, what you can contribute and when you play. A useful application gets a much better response than “invite me”.

Reviewing and accepting applications

Faction owners will find applications in the private recruitment inbox on their faction page. Each application shows the linked Minecraft name, preferred play style, availability and message. The owner can accept or decline it.

Important: accepting an application on the website does not automatically give the player access to your claims. It records the decision and shows the normal in-game next step:

/lands trust PlayerName

Only run that command after you have spoken to the player and are ready to trust them. Check your Lands roles and permissions before giving a new member access to valuable storage, farms or sensitive areas.

How to find good new members

1. Recruit for a clear identity

“We need members” is not a compelling pitch. Tell people what joining feels like. Are you a small Dutch building group, an international PvP team, a trade-focused faction, a relaxed group for evening players or an ambitious season competitor? The clearer your identity, the easier it is for the right people to recognise themselves in it.

2. Use Planet Minecraft properly

United Factions has a Planet Minecraft server page. Support the server there, keep your Planet Minecraft profile presentable and share genuine faction content where the site rules allow it.

Good content includes a finished base tour, a before-and-after build, a faction banner, a short recruitment trailer or a story about a war, trade route or community project. Do not spam unrelated projects or copy the same message everywhere. A screenshot with a real story attracts better candidates than a wall of capital letters.

3. Share short, visual posts on social media

TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, X, Bluesky and suitable Minecraft communities can all help. Keep the post simple:

• Show ten to thirty seconds of your base, team or current project.
• State your faction name, language, time zone and main play style.
• Say exactly who you are looking for.
• Include the server address play.unitedfactions.net.
• Link directly to your United Factions profile so players can apply privately.
• Invite interested players to the United Factions Discord.

Follow the rules of every community you post in. Avoid unsolicited direct messages and never promise ranks, items or access that you cannot actually provide.

4. Turn conversations into friendships

The strongest factions are usually built through repeated positive contact. Welcome new players at spawn, answer questions, trade fairly, join public events and talk in Discord. Invite people to do a small activity together before trusting them with the whole base. Recruitment works better when people already know how your team behaves.
