Short version

Your money Gold you carry

Gold nuggets count as 1, ingots as 9 and blocks as 81. Custom gold items do not count. `/bal` just reads the gold in your inventory.

Trading No `/pay` shortcut

You cannot magically beam money to someone with a command. Meet up, trade items, use trust, or take the risk.

Faction gold Treasury chest

A land can use one registered chest or barrel as its gold-only treasury. That gold feeds the small server-side amount Lands needs for claims and upkeep.

Shards Small side wallet

Shards are account-bound and capped at 50. They are not the main economy, not faction wealth, and not a replacement for gold.

How it works in-game

  1. You mine, earn or trade real vanilla gold items.
  2. Gold in your inventory is your money. Walk into danger with it and you are gambling with it.
  3. Faction gold belongs in the treasury, because claims and upkeep need a place to pull from.
  4. The small Lands amount is there to keep claims working. It is not a safe bank for hoarding.

What to do

  1. Keep personal gold split. Carry trade money when you need it, but do not walk around with your whole faction budget.
  2. Register and protect one faction treasury. Only plain vanilla gold belongs in it.
  3. Check how much upkeep your claims need before expanding. Current config keeps about three upkeep cycles ready, with a minimum of 405 gold.
  4. Spend shards before hitting the cap. The shard wallet currently starts at 0 and caps at 50.

Why we do it this way

Old Factions servers could become spreadsheet games: type a command, move a number, hide everything in a balance. United Factions is built around actual stuff in the world. If gold has to move, be stored and be protected, logistics become part of the game again.

Why there is still a tiny server balance

Lands still needs a number internally to pay for claims and upkeep. We keep that part small and fed by the treasury, so it supports the claim system without turning into a normal virtual bank.

What might still change

The Banker NPC is enabled and configured, but exact launch values can still change if treasury registration, claim costs or shard rewards are tuned. The idea stays the same: gold should matter in the world.

Check this first

  • You know the difference between gold in your inventory, gold in the faction treasury and shards.
  • You know `/pay` is blocked on purpose.
  • Your faction knows who is allowed near the treasury.

Where this comes from

This guide uses public Minecraft/Lands mechanics and rounded United Factions player guidance. Exact backend formulas are not published and may change during balance updates.
